Exploratour - The Magnetosphere of Mars
The Magnetosphere as a Protector
The sun's particles push the magnetic field back into a tear drop shape. Most particles don't hit the planet. The magnetosphere is a planetary protector from the Sun's particles. So you can think of the magnetosphere of a planet as a superhero protecting the planet from potentially harmful rays from the sun!
A magnetosphere helps protect a planet from the solar
wind. However, the Martian magnetosphere may be too small to do that very well.
