Deserts
Soils are part of the surface of the Earth. Soils in a desert are depleted of water. There are not many plants which can survive in an environment where there is little water. This means that deserts are places which otherwise would have lots of plants, if the soil contained sufficient water.
Major deserts of the world are:
- Sahara - Africa
- Sudan - Africa
- Khalahari - Africa
- Mohave - North America
- Chihuahuan Desert - North America
- Great Basin Desert - North America
- Sonoran Desert - North America
