Mountains and Volcanoes
The surface of the Earth has tall mountains and volcanoes. Most mountains and volcanoes come in groups. A group of mountains is called a mountain range. Some of the biggest mountain ranges are shown in this map. The brown areas are the highest regions of the continents, where the mountain ranges can be found.
The highest mountain on Earth is Mt. Everest. It is 29,000 ft high. Other tall mountains include:
- Kilmanjaro (19,000 ft)
- Mt. McKinley (20,000 ft)
- Mauna Kea (28,000 ft from the sea floor)
