ExploraTour: A Peek into the Lives of the Stars
The Size of Things
If you look around our own galactic neighborhood, you'll soon come to realize that stars come in a variety of sizes and colors.
The smallest stars are only about 3 times the size of our own planet Earth. But some stars are so immense that the sun and a large part of the surrounding solar system would be lost inside of them.
The Color of Starlight
Stars dot the heavens in shades from blue to white to yellow to orange to red . Some are barely as bright as our moon while others blaze forth with a million times more light than our own sun.
The Weight of It All
Stars can be found that weigh so little, more than a dozen would be needed to make up the sun's mass. While at the other extreme, the rare hypergiant star outweighs 100 suns.
