Earth--What a Drag!?!
News story originally written on April 1, 1998
Have you ever played with 3D glasses? According to
Albert Einstein, there should be 4D glasses -- these glasses would see what is called space-time. Space-time has 4 dimensions (north-south, east-west, up-down and time).
Scientists have just found that the Earth drags space-time around itself as it rotates! You can think of the Earth like a bowling ball. Now if you put the ball in syrup and spun it around, the ball would spin the syrup around itself. The syrup in this example is like space-time.
