New weather satellite to be launched
News story originally written on April 15, 1997
The GOES-K satellite will be launched from the Cape Canaveral Air Station on
April 24. The satellite will take images of the earth's weather. This lets
weather forecasters make predictions.
The GOES-K satellite will take pictures of one area of the Earth at all times.
Four other satellites that are already in orbit take pictures of other areas of
the Earth. This allows the whole globe's weather to be photgraphed.
