Mir Breathes a Sigh of Relief
News story originally written on August 26, 1997
The Mir space station had a lot of problems this year. In February, the crew had a fire in the space station. In March and April, Mir was leaking oxygen. The collision in June was a serious problem. July and August had their own problems: Commander Tsibliyev's heart problems and a computer system failure.
Finally, Mir seems to be enjoying a more peaceful week! The oxygen system has been fixed. The spacewalk that happened this past week helped Mir to get power back that had been lost during the collision.
Astronaut Michael Foale was very happy about the spacewalk. He said, "This is a super day...Well done, everybody!"
