News story originally written on July 30, 1997
NASA is going to launch a satellite named SeaWifs on August 1, 1997. SeaWifs stands for Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-View Sensor.
SeaWifs will take pictures of plants that grow in the ocean. Scientists are interested in these plants because they affect the weather all over the world. Have you ever seen plants while swimming in the ocean?
SeaWifs will also give NASA data that will help people to know how many fish will be caught in upcoming years.
