SOHO Watches Waves
News story originally written on March 13, 2000
SOHO is now watching sound waves travel through the Sun. The waves start on the far side of the Sun. The far side is the half we can't see.
These waves happen when there is a solar storm coming. It takes 27 days for the Sun to make one rotation.
So, when scientists see the waves, they know a storm is coming. We now can know 2 weeks ahead of time!
