Instrument comparison in flight
Today we flew another flight of the C-130 examining the change in the urban plume as it is processed in the atmosphere. Because there are several aircraft involved in MILAGRO, it is important to compare the results from instruments that measure the same chemical species. For about an hour during today's flight, the C-130 and the NASA DC-8 flew side-by-side while making measurements. This will allow direct comparison of species measured in both aircraft.
We have several more flights left. Meanwhile, we are hoping for meteorology that will allow us to best study the problems related to the goals of MILAGRO.
Cheers,
Chris
