What does Tecamac mean?
Measuring site T1 is in Tecámac. This is a little town close to Mexico City. The name Tecámac is a Náhuatl word, an ancient Mexico's language, spoken by Aztecs. In Náhuatl, Tetl or Tec means stone, camatl means mouth, and the c at the end means place, so Tecámac is "the place in the mouth of stone". A quite good name for this place because there is a lot of stones, dust, and Sun.
This town was founded by Aztecs many years ago, but there were people living there before them. Olmecs and people from Teotihuacan use to lived on Tecámac years ago, and the Aztecs, on their way to Mexico-Tenochtitlan, founded Tecámac in 1202.
