Charles Precourt is an American astronaut who was born on June 29, 1955,
in Massachusetts.
Before he became an astronaut, Precourt was an Air Force pilot. He has
logged over 4300 hours of flight time.
Precourt became an astronaut in 1991. He spent over 696 hours in space
aboard three spaceflights.
In 1993, Precourt made his first spaceflight aboard STS-55. Over 90
experiments were conducted on this 10-day mission in life sciences,
materials processing, and astronomy observations. Precourt flew aboard
STS-71 in 1995. This was the first Space Shuttle mission to dock with
the Russian Mir Space Station.
Precourt made his third spaceflight aboard STS-84 in 1997. The crew
docked with Mir for 8 days.
