Donald Thomas is an American astronaut who was born on May 6, 1955, in Ohio.
Before he became an astronaut, Thomas worked as an engineer for Lockheed
Martin.
Thomas became an astronaut in 1991. He has spent over 1040 hours in
space on 4 spaceflights.
Thomas made his first spaceflight aboard STS-65 in 1994. The crew conducted
experiments in materials and life sciences during this mission. In 1995,
Thomas flew aboard STS-70. The crew deployed a Tracking and Data Relay
Satellite.
Thomas made his third flight aboard STS-83 in 1997. This mission was cut
short due to a problem with a fuel cell. The mission was reflown as
STS-94 later that year. The crew conducted several experiments in
microgravity.
