Launching weather balloons by the Ocean in Iquique, Chile
Greetings from the VOCALS weather balloon station in Iquique! Here you see Lou Verstraete from NCAR and students from the Arturo Prat University launching a weather balloon which will soar through the lower atmosphere at approximately 4 meters per second measuring temperature, air pressure, humidity, wind speed and wind direction at different altitudes in the atmosphere. What a beautiful place to launch weather balloons!
