Cerro del Chiquihuite
Here is an example of how polluted the City is. This is a picture of "Cerro del Chiquihuite", which is situated around 5km (3miles) north from us. Chiquihuite is very close, indeed. However, we can barely see it because of the large amount of particles in the air, which reduce visibility.
Air Pollution in Mexico City is caused mainly by emissions from cars
(there are more than 3 million cars circulating in the city); although there are some polluting industries too. Next weekend is going to be a long-weekend holiday in Mexico (from Saturday 19 to Tuesday 21). Schools and many businesses are going to be closed, so we expect a reduction in traffic and a reduction in emissions and air pollution. Hopefully, we will have a better view of the Chiquihuite and the rest of the city!
Take care.
