Norman Thagard is an astronaut who was born on July 3, 1943, in Florida.
Before he became an astronaut, Thagard was a Marine pilot. He has logged

Thagard became an astronaut in 1978. He has spent over 3360 hours on 5
spacecraft.
Thagard made his first spaceflight aboard STS-7 in 1983. The crew
deployed two satellites during this mission. In 1985, he flew aboard
Mission 51-B. The crew conducted experiments in medicine and space
manufacturing.
In 1989, Thagard made his third flight aboard STS-30. The crew deployed
the Magellan spacecraft which went on to explore Venus. Thagard flew
aboard STS-42 in 1992. The crew conducted 55 experiments in space
manufacturing and life sciences.
In 1995, Thagard made his last spaceflight aboard the Russian Mir Space
Station. He conducted 28 experiments during his 115-day stay.
