All warm objects (not just people) radiate in the infrared. Warmer objects give off more infrared radiation. Very hot objects radiate other types of light in addition to infrared.

Click on the picture to see the infrared image of a real tea kettle boiling on the stove. Remember the white parts of the tea kettle are the hottest. You will see that the lid is much hotter than the walls of the tea kettle. The handle is the coolest, so you can pick up the kettle to pour!
