James Newman
James Newman is an American astronaut who was born on October 16, 1956,
in California.
Before he became an astronaut, Newman studied physics.
Newman became an astronaut in 1991. He has spent over 496 hours in space
on two spaceflights.
Newman made his first flight aboard STS-51 in 1993. Newman took a five hour
spacewalk. In 1995, Newman flew aboard STS-69.
Newman will make his third flight in 1998 aboard STS-88. This mission
will carry the hardware needed for the building of the International
Space Station.
