Donald Williams
Donald Williams was an American astronaut who was born on February 13,
1942, in Indiana.
Before he became an astronaut, Williams was a Air Force pilot.
Williams became an astronaut in 1978. He has spent over 288 hours in
space on two spaceflights.
In 1985, Williams flew aboard Mission 51-D. The crew repaired a
satellite during this mission. In 1989, Williams commanded STS-34. The
Galileo spacecraft was deployed during this mission. Galileo went on to
explore Jupiter.
