Tundra Herbivores
Herbivores are animals that only eat plants. There are both big and small herbivores in the tundra. Musk-ox and caribou are both really big! Musk-ox look like hairy cows. They have fir that keeps them warm in the winter.
Lemmings and hares are smaller herbivores. Lemmings are very important to the food chain because many carnivores eat them. They come in all different colors!
Some herbivores travel back and forth between the forest and the tundra. Caribou have to do this to stay warm in the winter. Other animals, like the arctic hare, grow white fir in the winter to hide from carnivores!
